Doug will have a book release party on Saturday, Feb 8th at Noon Eastern, 11 am Central, 10 am Mountain, 9 am Pacific. Please join in the fun and get to know a little bit more about my special guest.
We have all had moments in our lives where we wish we could disappear. I asked Doug what his most embarrassing moment has been and his answer is delightful.
In high school, in my student days, most of the courses we took were mandated, not like today, and we had one option. We could select one option from art, shop or music. I couldn’t draw a stick man or hammer a nail in straight, so I chose instrumental music. All music students were in either the Junior Band or the Senior Band, and performed at concerts, graduations, assemblies, remembrance-day services, etc. On day one, I was handed an instrument called an Alto Horn, or E Flat Horn. It looks just like a Tuba but is about one-sixth the size and plays French Horn music. My buddy got the only French Horn and there was no way he was going to trade.
I was definitely not a natural musician but I got by okay. In my third year, at the graduation ceremonies, our Senior Band was playing this wonderful soft music from one of the popular musicals of the day and the horn section had the opportunity to shine with a solo. Disaster was waiting to strike. I still do not know why, but my notes suddenly turned to squeals. To me, Clarinets squeak, but horns squeal, something like a baby pig. Figuring that it was a fluke, I tried again, and again, and produced, for an auditorium full of silent listeners, the most blood curdling pig squeals you ever heard. After three or four resounding squeals I figured it was time for me to fake it, but the damage was done.
About Doug Simpson’s newest book, The Soul of Jesus
As part of His preparations for the long-prophesied birth of the Christ, God selected a devout group of primarily Jewish Essenes to oversee this monumental undertaking. The Soul of Jesus delves into numerous details surrounding these readily-available but little-known preparations which preceded the birth of Jesus, and then carries on to share delightful snippets concerning the birth and life of Jesus before the commencing of His Ministry, Jesus’ Healings and other Miracles, His Apostles, relatives, friends and the group of seventy disciples, the Crucifixion and Resurrection, His activities after the Resurrection, and Jesus’ Ascension, that are not recorded in the Scriptures.
Doug Simpson is a retired high school teacher who has turned his talents to writing. His first novel, a spiritual mystery titled Soul Awakening, was published in the United States in October of 2011, by Booklocker. It was reissued in October of 2012 by 5 Prince Publishing as Soul Awakening, Book I of the Dacque Chronicles.
