A few days ago, this disturbed individual posted a thread in one of the author/reader groups on Facebook. Several people responded to her rant, correcting her in a very polite manner. There was no meanness or anything offensive intended but I guess the lady took the comments differently.
She got her revenge this morning. Using a different profile, she blasted all the folks who had made comments on the post. All the information was false and very mean. I was appalled at the sheer hatred oozing out with each word.
She got her vengeance ----or did she?
Actually, I believe it back-fired. The support from fellow authors and readers was for the victims of the attacks. Many people reported the slanderous remarks and some of the comments were removed by Facebook. After the initial shock wore off, a few benefits were realized. One person reported an increase of traffic to her website and a book was sold.
What benefits did the instigator receive from this act of revenge? NONE! She was "unfriended" and blocked by anyone who had her on a friends list. Any possible sales of her books are now non-existent among the people who read her posts. Some of the groups she belonged to have now banned her.
Is Revenge worth the consequences? HECK NO!!
This is a good lesson for all of us. Hatred, bitterness, vindictiveness, and lying does not benefit anyone in any way. It just shows what a small person he/she is and hurts the perpetrator more than the victim.
